In order to support the improvement of worship facilities for Muslims in Hekinan City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, we are launching a fundraising campaign to build Masjid As-Sunnah. As the Muslim population grows, particularly among Indonesians, many face difficulties in performing obligatory prayers. Most of them live far from the nearest mosque and must rely on public transport such as trains, buses, or taxis to reach the mosque, which takes time. For those wishing to own their own vehicle, this is quite challenging due to the strict requirements for obtaining a driver's license in Japan.

Currently, we are facing difficulties in finding an appropriate place for worship and to host our annual daurah activities. Every year, we have to search for a suitable venue with adequate facilities, obtain difficult permits, and deal with high rental costs.

Project to Purchase Land and Building for Masjid As-Sunnah

Alhamdulillah, after much searching, we have found a location that meets all of our criteria. Here are the reasons why this location is ideal:

  1. Easy access with public transportation
  2. Adequate surrounding facilities
  3. No disturbances from nearby neighbors
  4. Easy to obtain permits
  5. Affordable price, well below market value as the landowner is in urgent need of funds.

This property is located not far from the city center, surrounded by halal restaurants, only a 10-minute walk to the train station, and has ample parking. The land area is 623.7 m², priced at 33,000,000 Yen (around IDR 3,630,000,000, with a conversion rate of 110 Yen = 1 IDR). We are planning to purchase this land as soon as possible, as the payment deadline is set for December 2024.

Donation Campaign Goals

With the sincere intention and motivation to provide a proper and representative place for worship for the Muslim community in Hekinan and surrounding areas, we are seeking your support to make this vision a reality. Below are our goals:

Short-Term Goal:

  • Purchase land and building of 623.7 m² to be used as Masjid As-Sunnah, with payment due by December 2024.

Long-Term Goal:

  • Renovate the facility to add accommodations for women (separate rooms), separate toilets, carpets, and a library room.

The Importance of Wakaf in Islam

We also invite you to participate in Wakaf, a charitable endowment that continues to benefit the community. As stated in the Qur'an:

  • "Do good, so that you may attain victory" (QS. Al-Hajj: 77).
  • "You will never attain righteousness until you give of what you love" (QS. Ali-Imran: 92).

Wakaf is a form of charity that continues to benefit others, even after we have passed away, as long as the benefits remain.
